The Proposal

Watching wedding proposal videos online is one of my hobbies. It really makes me cry. I'm not quite sure if this pressured him about his proposal. Anyway, I know he's not the hopeless romantic type so I really did not expect anything BIG. All I wanted was for him to ask me with his knees bent and his eyes full of intent.

We were on our way back to Baguio from a weekend spent on the beach in La Union. We were on the road with his 2 buddies from work sitting at the back seat. The fog in Marcos Highway is really thick and exaggerated. Aldwin kept on telling that we were like in heaven. I wasn't really feeling mushy being the only girl in the car acting like one of the boys so I didn't catch that. Then, he was looking around for a view deck, for how many years we've been going up and down Baguio and we really have no idea where the view decks are, so he just kept on driving and we didn't mind. Checking out the scene below with those thick clouds isn't the best idea anyway.

As we approach the city, he became more and more uneasy. The boys and I are talking about girlfriends. Out of the blue, Aldwin suddenly said, "Basta ako, hindi na ko magkaka-girlfriend ulit, kasi...will you marry me?", then handed the blue box to me. The three of us were puzzled, I was stunned. I checked the box and found the tiny little ring which fits my finger just right. After 20 mins of silence, Aldwin said he was very nervous that I might say no given that he's got 2 witnesses on the back seat also waiting for my answer he blurted, "Oh, ano? Di ka na makapag salita? Wala ka pala eh!" I was really shocked and we all ended up laughing in the car. When we reached the city, I said "YES", wore the ring and took pictures with my crappy nail polish. Any-hoo, I still got my dream proposal. His knees were bent coz he was driving and his eyes were full of intent as he needed to make sure we'll reach the city amidst the heavy clouds in Marcos Highway safely. Ha-ha!
